Posguerra en Alemania, año 1946. Rachael Morgan (Keira Knightley) aterriza en las ruinas de Hamburgo en pleno invierno para reunirse con su marido, Lewis (Jason Clarke), un coronel británico que ha recibido la misión de reconstruir la ciudad destruida.
