Narra la historia de cuatro niños (Spencer Breslin, Kate Mara, Ryan Newman y Michael Cassidy) que, a causa de sus extraordinarios poderes, parecen no encajar. Con la ayuda de Jack (Tim Allen), apodado Capitán Zoom, un ex superhéroe en baja forma que ha perdido sus poderes, aprenden a utilizar sus habilidades especiales y a convertirse en superhéroes para intentar salvar el mundo de la destrucción segura... con tal de que lleguen a casa a tiempo para cenar.
